Sitka

May 19th - This was a beautiful day, sunny and just a bit cool. The town is VERY Russian. There is a Raptor Sanctuary here that seems to be the biggest tourist attraction. The Russian Orthodox church was beautiful and the Bishop’s house very interesting. The Bishop’s house is one of the oldest buildings in town. It was occupied by the Russian bishop when Alaska was purchased by the USA and was closed in 1969 as the bishop’s residence. It is now a national landmark.
