Heading for South Dakota

Some of you may not know that we accepted a volunteer position at Custer State Park in Custer, SD. Doug will be meeting and greeting people at the front gate and I will be meeting and greeting and taking reservations in the office. We will be working Sat., Sun., and Mon. and will have the rest of the week off. We just love this park and are looking forward to spending more time getting to know this area better. We will be there from June 1st to Sept 1st

May 26th - Our original thought was to leave for South Dakota on Mon., but we had forgotten the holiday and the Post Office would be closed. I needed to pick-up the held mail and leave them the forwarding instructions. This meant we had to wait until Tues. It worked out just as well, as it gave us a little breathing room. We traveled to Tallahassee the first day and spent some time visiting with Chip. I cooked dinner for us in his new apartment. He is doing so well and we are so proud of him.

May 27th - May 29th - Left Tallahassee around 8am and drove 418 miles - what a day. We were both exhausted and I think in bed around 8:30!!! The next day we got started about the 8 again and this day we drove 518 miles!!! This is not the kind of trip we enjoy. We did find a nice park way out in the country in MO someplace?? Had a nice chat with the owner before going to bed real early again. Today we took off around 7am and drove 384 miles. We stopped nice and early today as we are making good time and can’t get into our site at Custer until Mon. This is a great park and a good place to spend some very needed down time!!!
