Florrisant Fossil Beds

We went for the Florrisant Fossil Beds which is a National Monument. Fossils from this area are in museums all over the world. This 12 mile area was covered in many feet of volcanic mud. These are stumps of redwoods that were uncovedred. It was really interesting to hear all about the geological history of this area. Guess that is one of the reasons I would love to come back. We were very disappointed though when we mentioned Mt. Evans to the park ranger he had never heard of it!!!
