Yesterday we went to Pikes Peak. We were a bit disappointed in that the park is run by the City of Colorado Springs and they have completely decimated the top of the mountain. It has all been cleared for parking and concessions with no thought to the natural beauty. It was an interesting ride and we enjoyed the views, but would have enjoyed it even more if it had been left as Mt. Evans has. We took a great road home that went through some wonderful rocky country along the South Platte river. Drove through Red Rock Park which had some amazing red sandstone boulders. We also went through Valley of the Gods. Will go back there after Chip goes home as he did not want to take the two mile hike. We will be camping in this area for about another week. Today is Chip's last day with us. He says we have just about exhausted everything he wanted to see, so don't know what we will be doing today. Having trouble again uploading pics. Will try again later.
