This was to be the highlight of our trip - whale watching. The day started at 4:30AM as we needed to drive to Monterey. The day was cold and foggy, but we had high hopes!!! As we left the dock we passed a bunch of sea lions - a good start! Ana enjoyed riding at the bow of the boat. It was not rough, but we did haver some good swells. About an hour and a half into the trip we saw a pod of dolphin that started swimming right under the bow of the boat. About another half hour we saw a very large (about 10 feet across) sea sun fish. As time went on we got colder and more tired. Finally after about 3 1/2 hours we got a glimps of a hump back!! Unfortunately that is all we got!!! It was then time to return to dock. The trip was to be about 4 hours, it turned into 6 and no whales to speak of!!! As we got off the boat Ana said, "That seemed like a week!!!" Now my challenge is to find something else that Ana will like besides shopping!!!
