More of Oregon

August 14, 2007

Went for a nice ride around the area. It is so different from the coast and the northern valley. It is very dry. You see the trees nice and green growing out of what looks like desert. There are a lot of wineries in the area so week took part of the tour which gave us a good view of our surroundings. The weather is very warm, up in the 90’s, but cools nicely at night.

Will spend one more night here, Hi-Way Haven RV Park. Doug is not feeling well again today, so we had an easy day. Hope he is feeling better by tomorrow.

Doug feeling better this morning. We left early for Crater Lake. What a beautiful ride. A lot of is was along a winding river with lots of small falls. We stopped at Toketee Falls. It as almost a mile walk round trip with a total of 644 steps through beautiful old redwood and cedar forest. The walk was well worth the effort – what a view.

Got to Crater Lake early afternoon, so decided to take the rim road around the lake. We were told the water was blue, but I have never seen anything this blue, and the rock formations are incredible. Doug keeps joking about his comment when I first mention coming here. He said, ‘Just another lake, we’ve seen lots of lakes”!!!! Weather is also wonderful, there is not a cloud in the sky.

We will do the rim going in the other direction tomorrow to get the other perspective. We might also do the boat ride. They say it is quite a hike down to the boat, but if we did the falls, I am sure we could get to this boat!!
