Got up and it was 44 degrees. Knee is still sore, but nothing I can’t handle. We are headed toward Hope, BC, but will probably make it to Catche Creek, about halfway, about 150 miles.
We drove from an area that is saturated with overflowing lakes and rivers, to high mountain desert. This land in southern BC is so parched and brown in comparison to the lush northern BC area.
We are driving through tall mountains with a deep valley along the Thompson River, it is just beautiful and in such stark contrast to the area we came from.
We stopped at Spence Bridge at a nice little park along the river with two different railroad tracks going through it. (Acacia Grove RV Park) We took a drive after we got settled and took a lot of pictures. My knee was really swollen when we stopped.
Looked over what there was to do around here and thought about whitewater rafting, but I was afraid with the knee, so we have decided to move on tomorrow and see what we come up with. I would really like to be back in the states by Sunday. I don’t know why I feel the drive to get there.
It was over 90 degrees when we got to the campground. It was about 45 degrees when we left this morning!!

Yesterday it was 44 degrees when we got up, today it was 72 degrees!!!! Big change a very short distance. The owner of the park said we will go around a curve someplace down the road and it will suddenly be lush and green again!!!
We are on our way to Hope and will stop at a couple of interesting sites along the way. Wonderful weather - I am actually wearing shorts for the second day!!!
Stopped at a little town called Lytton. Very nice people and beautiful views. There is great gold panning and rock collecting in the area, but the waters are too high to pan. They say it is best in the spring and fall. My knew is bothering me too much. This is where the Thompson and Fraser Rivers meet. The Thompson is clear and the Fraser is muddy and there is a line right down the river through
Well, The fella at the campground was correct, about 30 miles down the road we went around a bend and everything seems to be a lot greener. The scenery is breathtaking.
Stopped at an air tram over the Fraser canyon, what a sight, we just can’t believe this gorge. It is called Gates of Hell because the waters are so turbulent.
We got to Hope and were so disappointed, again, as we could not do much rock hunting in the water because it was too high. We did some along the road and got a few. This is the beginning of a holiday weekend here in BC and we got the only spot in the campground and only for one night.
Will head for the states tomorrow!!!
