Back to Anchorge

June 13, 2007

It was a bit sad and quiet when we got back from the airport yesterday. We missed Chip being here.

Looks sunny today, so we might go on the Portage Lake boat ride to get a closer look at the Portage glacier. Doug is busy right now collecting firewood!!!
We did the Portage glacier boat ride and it was wonderful. I am really sorry we did not do it when Chip was here. We got up close to the glacier and had a very informative talk by a park ranger. We now know an awful lot about glaciers!!!!

We then took the tunnel to Whittier. We were not going to do that, but had time so changed our minds. The tunnel is used by cars and trains. On the hour to half hour the cars use it and on the half hour to hour the trains use it. There is a fee to go through it and the only good part is the tunnel its self!! The town of Whittier has nothing to offer and is rather dingy. It was fun though going through the tunnel.

We drove back to the National Park we liked so much. Are heading out of Alaska. It will probably take us three to four weeks but that is our direction. We hope to finish Anchorage this weekend and go back to Hatcher Pass and do some more panning. We are holding our breath, the weather is really holding! Passed a moose with her baby today.

Doug just dropped me off at the internet café to catch up on my computer work. I will try to upload some pictures today. Will finish errands today and do site seeing tomorrow. This laundry business is a real bother!!!!!!
