Doug's Sign

Sun and Mon, May 20 & 21, 2007

We have had a very relaxing couple of days. Sunday we went to an old log church and then did a few things around the RV that needed doing. Doug put forth ‘the most effort since the trip began’, his comment, not mine. He made a sign for the back of TT, I am attaching a picture. We have had a lot of comments on it!!! The weather has been absolutely glorious!

Today we decided that it would be fun to do some panning for gold. We went into Anchorage and bought a starter panning kit. Tonight we went to the river near by and played with it. It is so relaxing and quiet. It is also exciting when you think you have come across a flake of gold!!! Tomorrow we are going to go back to Hatcher’s Pass as they say this is a ‘gold bearing’ stream. We saw someone there Sat. with a portable sluice and diving gear. Even if we don’t get any gold, it will be fun just to be out there and maybe we will even see some wild life!!!

Boy was it windy last night. At one point the RV actually was rocking!! It is overcast and dreary today. Went to the library and did some research on panning for gold and how to determine what you have. Am not sure if what we have collected is gold or not. Will keep checking. Did not pan today as it was cold and windy.

Have not been able to get on line for a couple of days, so while at the Library I took advantage and did some work.

We will be staying here for at least another day, as we are waiting for mail from our daughter.

We went to a local hotel for lunch and when we came out Doug saw someone get out of their car, take a picture of our sign and then get back in a drive off!!! He is really enjoying the comments he gets with that thing!!!

As we were coming home tonight we saw our elusive moose!! Saw her the first day we were here and hadn’t seen her again until today. She is the only wild life we have seen since being in Palmer.

Hope tomorrow is warmer and not so windy so we can go panning again!!!
