Day 1
Got started about two hours later than planned. Just as we were about to leave code enforcement came and told us we had to take the cover off our carport. It had been there for about two years and they just decided it was too close to the property line!!! Anyone that knows Doug will know how he reacted to this!!! It was not an auspicious start to the trip!!!
By the time we got to Tallahassee he had calmed down and we had a nice visit with our son Chip We talked about his trip to meet us in Alaska. We are really looking forward to that.
The weather was sunny and windy. The temp got to about 50 degrees during the night. Nice that we didn’t need AC as we were dry camping.
Day 2
Weather sunny and cool.
Had an early start from Chip’s, did not see him. Had a misshap at 10:30am the tow bar pulling our little car (TT) broke. We were in Florala, AL. The car swung loose and borke its headlight and put a small hole in the RV. We were fortunate to stop at a Sheriff’s Sub Station and the gal there told us about a man that did welding. While he was working on the tow bar we browsed the town. What nice people!
By 3PM the tow bar was fixed and we were on the road again. It could have been so much worse and we thank the Lord for the timing. Hopefully we will get all the kinks worked out in the first week!!!!
The girls are still hiding in the closet all day and are rambunctious at night!! I hope they will settle down soon!.
Stayed at a new campground in Evergreen, MS. Very nice christian couple run it. It is still under construction but had everything we needed for the night. We were able to get one channel on TV so caught up with the news about the shooting in VA school. Terrible tragedy.
Day 3
Weather overcast and intermittent rain. We got a very early start today, 7:30am as we are going to try and make it to Tom Sawyer campground on schedule. Got on the interstate in the wrong direction so lost some time with that. Rain stopped around noon and was just cloudy the rest of the day.
Doug is anxious to get to our campground. This has made me realize we don’t want to make too many reservations. If we have a reservation we tend to concentrate on the next stop and don’t see anything along the way. This will take some training, but I think it can be done!!!!!
Got to Tom Saywer Park. Very nice a bit expensive. Watching the river traffic is fascinating. The river is realy filthy and has a surprisingly swift current.
The girls don’t want to get out of the closet. Will try and entice them with different food. I am afraid they will get sick.
Don't have the connect I need with me to upload pictures so will add them later.

You have no idea how jealous we are of you two, but know you earned this pleasant trip. Take it easy, and enjoy every minute. Don't worry about deadlines. They will wait. :-)
Love you guys, have a great trip.
Try a feather on a string to get the "girls" out of the closet
Enjoy, Bob and Janet
You guys have already had an adventure!! What about the hole in the RV? Hopefully it will be smooth "sailing" from now on!!
Can't wait to see pictures of the cats in the closet. Remember Alta's cat from the closet?! Maybe tuna fish will get them out!
Sounds like a book...The adventures of Barb and Doug and the closet cats. Wishing you a safe and restful trip. Missing you already Barb and you too Doug. Look forward to updates.
Love,
Christina
Pretty exciting start. Glad the mishaps weren't as bad as they could have been. We never lost the hitch but did lose a tire on our boat trailer once - that wasn't any fun either!!
We have been around the country 6 times now and hardly ever make reservations. It adds pressure to get someplace. We've never had a problem without reservations and, like you, we can dry camp if need be.

PS: Happy that Doug calmed down!!!
